Bio

Sree Kalyan Patiballa is an Assistant Professor in the Mechanical Engineering department. His research broadly investigates the design of soft robots and mechanical metamaterials toward developing intelligent robotic matter that enables safe human-robot interactions. Before joining UA, he was a postdoctoral associate at Yale University, where he worked on an amphibious turtle-inspired robot. He earned his Ph.D. and M.S. from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and B.Tech. from Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham University in India. He is passionate about STEM outreach and diverse collaborations to bring science to the public. He is the recipient of the Mavis Future Faculty Fellowship and the Freudenstein/General Motors Young Investigator Award from the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME).
